Argyle ISD Ratings and Accountability
Argyle ISD holds an A+ rating on Niche, placing it in the top 1% of all school districts in Texas out of 883 ranked. It’s the No. 1 district in Denton County and ranks No. 6 across the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, according to the 2025 Niche rankings.
The Texas Education Agency gave the district a score of 91 out of 100 on its most recent accountability report, and Argyle ISD has earned a superior financial integrity rating for 23 consecutive years.
Argyle ISD enrolled about 6,500 students for the 2025-2026 school year. Smaller districts can fly under the radar compared to bigger names like Frisco ISD or Prosper ISD, but Argyle ISD punches well above its weight.
Argyle ISD Boundaries and the Five-City Map
Argyle ISD covers about 35 square miles across five municipalities: Argyle, Flower Mound, Bartonville, Northlake, and portions of Denton. This is one of the most important things to understand if you’re buying a home in the area, because the district boundary doesn’t follow city lines.
Homes in the western part of Flower Mound, including the Canyon Falls community, feed into Argyle ISD rather than Lewisville ISD. Parts of Northlake, including the Harvest by Hillwood community, are zoned for Argyle ISD rather than Northwest ISD. And portions of Bartonville and even southern Denton fall within the district boundary as well.
A home with an “Argyle” mailing address might not be in Argyle ISD, and a home with a “Flower Mound” or “Northlake” mailing address might be. The only way to confirm is by checking the specific street address against the district’s boundary map, which I’ll cover below.
Argyle ISD Enrollment and Growth Projections
Argyle ISD enrolled about 6,500 students in the 2025-2026 school year, the largest enrollment in the district’s history. That’s up from about 6,100 the previous year, and the growth isn’t slowing down.
Over the past five years, enrollment has grown by about 61%. The district’s demographic reports project enrollment to exceed 11,000 students by the 2033-2034 school year, which would nearly double the current student population in under a decade.
That growth is being driven by large master-planned communities like Harvest by Hillwood in Northlake and Canyon Falls in Flower Mound, both of which are zoned for Argyle ISD and are still actively building new phases. The district has been planning for this with a 10-year strategic growth plan adopted in January 2023, and voters approved a $423 million bond package in May 2025 to fund new campuses and land purchases.
Argyle ISD Current Campuses (2025-2026)
As of the 2025-2026 school year, Argyle ISD operates seven campuses:
Elementary (Pre-K through 5th grade):
- Hilltop Elementary
- Jane Ruestmann Elementary
- Argyle West Elementary (located in the Harvest community)
- Argyle South Elementary (located in Canyon Falls, Flower Mound)
Middle school:
- Sixth Grade Center
- Argyle Middle School (grades 7-8, located on US 377)
High school:
- Argyle High School
The district maintains a student-to-teacher ratio of about 15 to 1 at the elementary level. With four elementary campuses now open, the district has been rezoning attendance boundaries as new communities build out. If you’re buying into a specific neighborhood, one of the first things you should do is check which elementary zone your address feeds into at Argyle ISD’s boundary map page.
New Schools Argyle ISD Is Building
Argyle ISD has three new campuses in various stages of construction, all funded through the 2022 and 2025 bond packages.
Scott Gibson Middle School
This is the district’s second middle school, located on FM 407 near I-35W. It’s scheduled to open in August 2026 with a 1,200-student capacity serving grades 7 and 8. Once it opens, the current Argyle Middle School on US 377 will begin transitioning into the district’s second high school.
Michael Ball Elementary
The district’s fifth elementary campus broke ground in late 2025 on FM 407. It’s expected to open in fall 2027 with 61 classrooms across two stories.
Argyle Legacy High School
The current Argyle Middle School campus on US 377 will become the district’s second high school, named Argyle Legacy High School. It’s set to open with grades 9 and 10 in the 2027-2028 school year, adding a grade each year until it serves all four high school grades. The mascot will be the Red Hawks.
When Argyle High School’s enrollment reaches about 2,700 students, the district plans to split into two full 9th-through-12th-grade high schools. The $423 million bond approved in May 2025 also includes land purchases for a future third middle school, projected to open around 2029-2030.
Argyle ISD Tradeoffs
Rapid growth means ongoing construction and rezoning
The district grew 61% in five years, and the pace isn’t slowing. That means new campus openings, shifting attendance boundaries, and construction along FM 407 and US 377. If you buy a home in Argyle ISD today, the elementary zone your address feeds into could change within a few years as new campuses open and boundaries are redrawn. The district approved new middle school boundaries effective 2026 and new high school boundaries effective 2027.
Higher home prices than most Denton County districts
Homes zoned for Argyle ISD tend to carry a premium. The median home price in the 76226 zip code, which covers most of the district, is in the $650,000 to $765,000 range as of early 2026 depending on the data source. That’s well above the Denton County median. If you’re comparing districts on a budget, Northwest ISD or Denton ISD will have more options below $400,000.
MUD and PID taxes in newer communities
Many of the newer master-planned communities zoned for Argyle ISD, including Harvest and Canyon Falls, are inside Municipal Utility Districts or Public Improvement Districts. Those special taxing districts add to your annual property tax bill beyond the base Argyle ISD rate of $1.1727 per $100 of assessed value. This post on property taxes in Argyle, TX breaks down the full tax picture by area.
How to Verify Your Address Is Zoned for Argyle ISD
Argyle ISD maintains an interactive boundary map on their website at argyleisd.com/about/boundary-map. You can search by street address to confirm which district and which specific campus zones your property falls into.
If you’re buying new construction in a community that’s still developing, verify the district zoning directly with the school district rather than relying on the builder’s marketing materials. Builders list the ISD that covers the majority of a community, but individual lots near the boundary edge can sometimes fall into a different district.
